Do I need to like horror movies to listen?

Does it help? Yes. Do you have to like scary movies? No. We aren’t critics or professional reviewers. We are just two sisters who have grown up enjoying movies, horror movies, and talking about them. Listening to an episode, we’ve been told, is like sitting in on a conversation with your friends just chatting. Do you share your friend’s love for techno dubstep country pop? No, but you enjoy the conversation with them anyway. That’s the best way we can explain enjoying without sharing a love for horror.

Should I watch the movie before the episode?

While it helps, you absolutely do not have to. One of our favorite pastimes has been telling each other about movies we plan on watching or maybe movies we never plan on watching. There’s something fun about listening to someone storytell their experience. This is how we feel our episodes unfold.

Where can I listen to the podcast?

Our podcast is available on many platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and iHeartRadio. For direct links to our podcast and the list of available platforms you can click on the following links. Super easy!

Can I recommend a movie to you?

Absolutely! We obviously do not know all the horror movies in existence and love suggestions. You can always recommend a movie when you leave your review at Apple Podcasts, on any Instagram Post comment, or by sending an email to nightmaremoviepodcast@gmail.com

What are you planning for Season Two?

We have some great plans for Seasons 2-4. For an update, click here.

Do you share spoilers in your podcast episodes?

Oh yes! That’s just how we discuss and share. Honestly, we have never minded spoilers in our own retellings of movies or when others share their favorite movies. For us, it’s all about the journey. It’s fun to watch everything that leads to the conclusion.

Is your podcast SFW?

Oh no, not at all. We describe the movies in detail sometimes. Horror movies are full of blood, gore, and fiction involving violence. And the cussing. Yes, we have potty mouths. We don’t swear to shock. It’s just our natural vernacular and cadence. We work in "profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay. It’s our true medium; we’re masters."*

Do you provide trigger warnings?

We really try to. You must understand that most horror and scary movies revolve around triggering subjects. So you need to consider this when you decide to listen. Having said that, we feel that some subject matter is either not the norm or is of a subject matter that needs special considerations. For example, our episode on La Llorona includes an introduction to the subject matter as it involves the true atrocities of a historical event, the Guatemalan Maya Genocide of the 1970s-80s. When we feel something needs extra notation, we will mention it. We try hard to be aware and sympathetic and empathetic to those experiences.

Can we watch a movie with you LIVE?

We are loving this idea and are trying to figure out how to best do this. Just know we are thinking about this option and how best to deliver. We are excited about the idea, though, for sure.

Do you have a membership?

Yes! We started a very simple membership for the time being. We're new to all of this so we thought starting out slow and easy was a great way to get started. You can find more information on our membership at our "Buy Me a Coffee" site.
